Gastro virus - prevention?
Posted by Rob on October 23, 2000
Just wondering if anyone knows of a preventative for the gastro virus (or stomach flu as people call it). I have my kids and myself on a naturopathic mixture that contains bifidus and I think acidopholis plus probioplex. I think this helps in building a resistance, but I can't be sure. My naturopath says yes it does help with resistance. Does anyone have other advice on prevention apart from the common sense actions such as washing hands which I drill into my kids etc. thanks Rob

Response

BioActive Nutritional, the company I purchase my nutritionals and herbals, and homeopathics has a homeopathic formula called virutox, this works on viruses. Echinacea, garlic, bee propolis also help. Accidophilus helps control candida overgrowth, which by the way is many times mistaken symptomatically for stomach virus. Homeopathics can be purchased of course at a health food store. Garlic is antibiotic, antifungal, and antiviral. It's problem is it's smelly and highly effective and so cheap most nutritional practioners do not prescribe it. Also health food stores push their other more expensive lines.
